Commentary
There is the full-time whistle at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo as Venezia lose 3-2 to Juventus, confirming their relegation and Juventus’ Champions League spot. Fila gave Venezia the lead in the opening two minutes, when Haps found him free in the penalty area. Two goals in six minutes changed the game, as Yildiz and Kolo Muani made it 2-1 to Juve going into the break. Haps added a goal to his earlier assist when he equalised for Venezia in the 55th minute, but the game-winning moment came from a penalty. Former Juve player Caviglia tripped up Conceicao, which gave Locatelli the chance to make it 3-2 to the Bianconeri. His penalty was the last chance of the game, as Juventus tried to kill all the momentum of the match. A win would not have been enough for Venezia to survive as Lecce surprisingly beat Lazio away from home. For Juventus, it is a fourth-place finish and Champions League football next season. Opta had made Juventus favourites pre-match, which ended up being correct. Venezia had an xG of 0.83 compared to Juventus’ xG of 2.04 – which is helped by the penalty. It was a classic match to end the Serie A season, thank you for tuning in to this commentary and take care – see you next season!
