Newcastle’s Historic Carabao Cup Triumph

Newcastle United ended a 70-year wait for domestic silverware by defeating Liverpool 2-1 in the 2025 Carabao Cup final at Wembley. It was their first major honour since 1969 and their first domestic trophy since 1955.

Route to the Final

The Magpies cruised through the competition, thrashing Leicester and Ipswich Town 4-0 before overcoming Brentford in the quarter-finals. They then dismantled Arsenal 4-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals, underlining their quality.

The Wembley Showpiece

Dan Burn rose highest to head Newcastle into the lead, before Alexander Isak made it two. Liverpool pulled one back, but the Magpies saw out the win to claim a historic victory.
