Commentary
Alcaraz is the hero in south London. It wasn’t a pretty win but Moyes’ successful return continues as his Everton move further away from relegation and into up to 13th, above Manchester United and Tottenham. Alcaraz set up the first when he made the most of a poor Mitchell pass and found Beto, who extended his impressive goal-scoring form. Two minutes after the restart it looked like it was going to be a nervy second period with Mateta levelling but Alcaraz then turned goalscorer and sunk Palace with a close-range strike. Palace may feel like they should have got more out of this game with Sarr smashing the bar and they amounted to an xG of 1.52 compared to the Toffees’ 0.76 but it is the away side leaving Selhurst Park with a vital win.
