Inter Milan mod AS Roma

Inter's Scudetto hopes are dealt a huge blow as they fell to a third succesive defeat in all competitions after losing 1-0 at home to Roma. They struggled to create any meaningful chances in either half with just the two shots on target over the course of the whole match. They did start with some rhythm and purpose as Martinez had a goal disallowed for offside, but they were not at their best at all. Soule gave Roma the lead after 22 minutes and they had more chances in the first half to add to that advantage but couldn't quite finish them. Inter desperately searched for an equaliser but it never came and they didn't really create many openings despite having nearly all of the ball. They created 1.11 xG compared to Roma's 1.85. Inter must regroup as they prepare for their crucial Champions League semi-final first leg away to Barcelona while Roma take on Fiorentina next week. Inter stay level on points with Napoli but will fall three points behind them if their title rivals beat Torino later today. Roma move up to fifth in the table.
